The Put Up Your Dukes Foundation

ANGELA & JAMIE DUKES

The Put Up Your Dukes Foundation was founded by Jamie and Angela Dukes in 2009. Jamie is a retired 10 Year NFL Veteran. Upon retirement from the NFL in 1996, he stood 6'1', weighed 290 pounds, and was the picture of health. Ten years later though, Dukes, who has a reputation in life and on the NFL Network for telling it like it is, tipped the scales at nearly 400 pounds, had high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Jamie and Angela have 2 children and while Jamie is 45 he has witnessed the death of five of his former teammates from conditions often linked to obesity. "It took my own personal failures with battling weight and the death of several teammates to make me draw the line to have the Realize Band bariatric surgery. I've had 5 teammates die in a 5 year period and all were in their 40's."

The Methodology

The methodology of the Put Up Your Dukes Foundation is to shine the light on obesity with the assistance of celebrities, which include Professional Athletes, Entertainers, Musicians and Movie Stars. Obesity affects everyone as some have siblings, other family members and loved ones who battle this disease.
